Biocheck.Ugent has been officially granted a global technical recognition by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) for its contribution to sustainable livestock transformation and animal health within the One Health framework during the FAO Global Technical Recognition Ceremony, held on 15 October 2025.
The FAO Global Technical Recognition Ceremony is an event that celebrates outstanding technical contributions to transforming agrifood systems worldwide. The 2025 edition honored achievements across several thematic areas, including sustainable livestock transformation, One Health, land and water management, sustainable aquatic food systems, sustainable forest production, and sustainable plant production.
FAO’s technical recognition of Biocheck.Ugent acknowledges its proven scientific foundation and impact in improving biosecurity, animal health, and sustainable livestock production. The tool supports farmers, field advisors, and policymakers in evaluating and enhancing biosecurity practices using a science-based, structured approach.
The FAO recognition marks an important milestone in Biocheck’s global journey and further establishes its role as a trusted reference within international efforts to build more resilient, sustainable agrifood systems.
