Keeping healthy livestock healthy

No doubt that Biocheck.Ugent is the queen of biosecurity surveys, it’s my first option if I need any support. There is always a way to work with them!

I have been using Biocheck.Ugent for the past 10 years and have been very satisfied with both the tool and the excellent support provided by the Biocheck.Ugent team. It offers a clear and systematic approach to assessing livestock biosecurity, helping to identify areas that require improvement. The results are easy to interpret and can be readily compared with others using the same system, enabling meaningful benchmarking at regional, national, and even international levels.

Our collaboration with Biocheck.Ugent enables us to objectively assess biosecurity levels using a scientifically validated and independent tool, supported by access to a large international database. The real value for us lies in combining Biocheck’s scientific framework with Royal Agrifirm Group’s own knowledge, field experience, and practical application on farms. This combination allows us to translate data into actionable improvements, helping our customers strengthen biosecurity and support sustainable, profitable swine production.

Biocheck.Ugent is an important tool that supports meaningful dialogue around biosecurity and enables its objective measurement. It provides a practical framework for assessing biosecurity levels while clearly demonstrating good practices and required production standards. From the perspective of K2 Agro, Biocheck.Ugent is a practical solution that supports advisory work and helps align expectations between farmers, advisors, and industry partners. 

Biocheck.Ugent was central to my PhD research at Ghent University, where I applied the tool during on-farm visits in Pakistan to assess biosecurity in intensive broiler production systems. Its successful application under local field conditions demonstrates its global relevance and scientific reliability for on-farm biosecurity assessment.

The biosecurity training provided me with essential skills to assess and explore the risk‑based biosecurity status of more than 52 Ethiopian commercial broiler farms as part of my doctoral research at Ghent University. The Biocheck.Ugent tool has been particularly invaluable—its advanced features allowed us to access our data online with ease, conduct consistent evaluations, and continue with detailed analyses that are now in preparation for scientific publication. I truly appreciate the clarity, scientific rigor, and practical impact that Biocheck.Ugent brings to both research and field application, and I highly recommend it to anyone striving to improve farm biosecurity.
